Description
Designed specifically for road racing, track days, and performance road riding, the FIM-certified Tech-Air® 7x System is based on Alpinestars’ proven MotoGP Airbag technology. This fully autonomous and self-contained motorcycling Airbag System is built for racing, offering a sleek, low-profile design with excellent ventilation. The Tech-Air® 7x delivers comprehensive upper-body protection, covering the shoulders, chest, and entire back, making it ideal for both performance and recreational motorcycling. Its integrated back protector is extended to provide additional coverage for the coccyx. The system can be used as a standalone solution or integrated into compatible suits or jackets, functioning seamlessly across closed-circuit tracks, road riding, and light off-road activities.
Equipped with advanced technology, the wearable Tech-Air® 7x System features a sophisticated electronic system powered by twelve integrated sensors: three triaxial accelerometers (one on the back protector and two on the shoulders) and a triaxial gyroscope (embedded in the back protector). These sensors continuously monitor the rider’s body for sudden shocks or unusual movements. Drawing on years of research in partnership with over half of the world’s leading MotoGP riders and Alpinestars customers, millions of kilometres of riding data and thousands of crash scenarios have been analysed to refine the intelligent crash-detection algorithms. When a crash is detected—caused by a high-energy or sudden impact—the system’s algorithm activates the Airbag, which inflates in as little as 44 milliseconds (depending on Airbag size) to provide exceptional protection for the rider or passenger. The inflated Airbag reduces impact forces by up to 90% compared to standard CE Level 1 protectors.
Tech-Air® 7x Riding Modes: Race and Street
The Tech-Air® 7x System is pre-programmed with two Riding Modes: RACE Mode for closed-circuit tracks and STREET Mode for road and light off-road riding. Riders can easily switch between modes using the Tech-Air® App. When riding on public roads, the system must always be set to Street Mode to ensure protection even while stationary, such as at traffic lights or intersections. Riders should remember to switch back to Street Mode after leaving the track to maintain full protection in everyday scenarios, as the Street Mode algorithm is the only one that offers Airbag activation when stopped.
