The Tech-Air® 5 is the latest member of Alpinestars’ Tech-Air® family, which includes the Tech-Air® Race and Tech-Air® Street systems. The Tech-Air® 5 is a slim, self-contained airbag vest designed to be worn under any well-fitted textile or Tech-Air compatible jacket, or any leather jacket with at least 4 cm of space around the rider’s chest. It offers unparalleled protection, covering the rider’s shoulders, chest, ribs, and full back. Shoulder protection is critical in the event of a crash, and Tech-Air® 5 excels in this area, significantly reducing the risk of shoulder and collarbone injuries. Alpinestars Tech-Air® 5 provides the most comprehensive protection available from any airbag system.

This cutting-edge vest incorporates an active electronic system with six integrated sensors (three gyroscopes and three accelerometers) and an AI-powered crash detection algorithm. Years of research, combined with data from over 50% of the world’s top MotoGP riders, millions of kilometers of riding, and thousands of crash data points, have been used to refine the algorithm. In the event of a crash, the system deploys the airbag in 20 to 40 milliseconds, based on the size of the airbag, offering protection that reduces impact force by up to 95% compared to passive protectors. The Tech-Air® 5 provides the same level of protection as 18 back protectors.

The system is simple to use—just zip up the vest and secure the magnetic flap, and you’re ready to ride. An LED display shows the airbag’s operational status, while the integrated, certified lithium-ion battery offers up to 30 hours of riding time. The system includes a magnetic micro USB charger for easy and convenient recharging.

Tech-Air® 5 is equipped with Bluetooth connectivity and the Tech-Air® App, which allows riders to monitor the system’s operational and battery status, as well as review a detailed analysis of their ride. The system’s firmware can also be updated directly through the app.
